Budget Tuition Plan (BTP)
We are aware that families are finding it more difficult to pay for educational expenses in one large payment each semester. Therefore, as a service to your family, Virginia Tech is proud to offer the Budget Tuition Plan (BTP) for your consideration. The BTP allows parents and/or students to make 4 monthly payments per semester for tuition and fees, housing, and dining plans by using direct debits from a checking account. Participation in the BTP is optional and available to all students.
Please note that the Budget Tuition Plan is not available as an option to pay Summer term tuition. The plan is only available for use for the Fall and Spring terms.
How to Apply
Students may enroll in the BTP on-line through the Hokie SPA under the University Account Information menu, or by submitting a paper application. The on-line application will calculate your tuition and fees and BTP debit amounts automatically for you and will allow you to pay your BTP application fee on-line by e-check.
If you wish to submit a paper application, you may download and print the BTP Brochure and Application (PDF) and mail it along with the application fee. A worksheet for calculating the amount of your budget tuition plan payments is included.
Budget Tuition Plan services are also available at Customer Service Window 6 of the Bursar's Office in 150 Student Services Building.
Reductions
Is the amount of your BTP more than your expected charges? If the amount budgeted (along with any other credits on your account) is more than the total semester charges, the payer should reduce the remaining debits or cancel the BTP. Use the Budget Tuition Change Form (PDF) to reduce debits or cancel the BTP.
If a refund is still due, the refund policy specified in the Budget Tuition Brochure will be in effect. No refund will be given if there are scheduled debits remaining on your account for the semester.
